For two decades, I have avidly followed independent baseball, one of the hardcore fans hanging on to a niche in the huge, sprawling professional baseball landscape.
But, as we know, that landscape has been threatened by seismic changes in the industry. Blame the contraction of the minor leagues, the threat of an MLB lockout in 2027, the Savannah Bananas, or just broader changes in entertainment consumption that make three hours at a baseball game on a Wednesday night not as tenable as years past. Whatever you point the finger at, the baseball industry isn’t in bad shape by any means, but there are definitely growing concerns.
Maybe that’s why I decided to launch the ultimate passion product of a passion that few share, not just independent baseball as a whole, but a league near and dear to my heart: the American Association of Professional Baseball.
What I aim to do is bring a little bit of everything to the table: share news around the league, highlight major accomplishments, provide my take on rosters, events, or whatever I feel like contributing my two cents towards, and finally, just remembering the players and teams that helped bring this great league to this point.
That’s what I’m here for and I hope you guys enjoy this trip with me.
