The Apollos operated as a travel team for the 2021 season, necessitated by the departure of the St. Paul Saints and the dissolution of the Texas AirHogs during the 2020-21 offseason and the addition of the Kane County Cougars for the 2021 season, leaving the league with 11 permanent franchises.

The club played all 100 games on the road and were dissolved after the season with the arrival of the Lake Country DockHounds for 2022, restoring the league to an even 12 teams.

The Houston Apollos were knocked around to the tune of a league-record 83 losses, but over a dozen players went on to productive professional baseball careers, including two who played affiliated baseball after their time with the Apollos
