Joplin joined the league for the 2015 season, playing in a remodeled Joe Becker Stadium that was paid for by relief funds from the tragic and infamous 2011 tornado. In the club’s first season, the Blasters barely missed the playoffs, but attendance was disappointing and things deteriorated in ’16, as the team suffered, attendance cratered, and the franchise floundered, barely making it through the season. Barely a month after the season ended, it was confirmed by the league that the Blasters would not return for 2017, ending a short two-season stint in southwest Missouri.
