St. Paul was the eye-opening entry into the Northern League’s inaugural 1993 season, setting up shop just across town from MLB’s Minnesota Twins. Mocked by some, picked to fail by many, the Saints instead embraced the mantra of “Fun is Good” and became the envy of the Northern League both on and off the field before jumping to help found the American Association in 2006.

After 22 years at ramshackle Midway Stadium, the club moved into state-of-the-art downtown CHS Field, obliterating league and independent baseball attendance records after moving in. The new park put them on MLB’s radar when Minor League Baseball was reorganized in 2020. After the truncated ’20 campaign, the Saints were invited to become the Triple-A affiliate of the Twins, ending the club’s 28 years of independent operation.
