After posting the lowest single-season attendance in American Association history in 2007 (not counting the 2020 COVID season), the Blacksnakes were on shaky footing once the season. With two new franchises already arriving for 2008, the club quietly folded in October, 2007 after a prospective new owner fell through and Coastal Bend’s lease was terminated, necessitating another club to leave or join the league.
